Introducing Nurturing Resilience

Many people in a state of chronic dis-ease and fatigue experience a nervous system that is stuck on, stuck off, or oscillating too rapidly between the two.

It is the equivalent of driving a car with your foot flat on the gas but with the handbrake up. It was going nowhere and yet burning through all the fuel.

This manifests in symptoms such as fatigue, anxiety, overwhelm, digestive issues, heart palpitations, insomnia, poor sleep, poor immune function, auto-immunity, depression, procrastination, and self-protective coping mechanisms, which mean life gets smaller and smaller.

Nurturing Resilience is a 12 week nervous system support group program designed to for the type of nervous system that is often impacted by chronic illness – a highly sensitive one.

Having a sensitive nervous system myself and having trained to an Advanced Level in Somatic Experiencing. I realised that many of the ways my clients were trying to support their nervous systems was actually not helpful, at best, and detrimental at worst.

Nurturing Resilience is a group program that will teach you how to gently recalibrate your system so that you expand your capacity to live your life.

How it works

Step 1

The first step is to sign up and claim your space. We keep group numbers small and intimate so that everyone feels safely held. The program will officially start on Monday 11th March 2024.  You can join the self-paced course at ANY time.

Step 2

Once we have officially started you will get access to the course curriculum and you can begin working through the theory modules at your own pace. We allow two weeks for each module to give you plenty of space to process. 

Step 3

Each week you will have my (Anna’s) support on the group calls. Here you’ll learn practical tools, experience “hot seat” coaching and you’ll have the opportunity to get support and have your questions answered.

Between calls, you can interact in the Facebook Group where you can compare notes with your peers and build community.

A Breakdown Of The Course Modules

Nurturing Resilience is broken down into six modules, each module is broken down as follows:

Module 1: Where the cell danger response and polyvagal theory meet (Week 1 and 2)

In module 1 we will set the stage for the whole program. This means giving you a framework to understand yourself and your current “illness experience”. Your body will give a sigh of relief as you realise, it all makes sense. On a practical level, you’ll learn some basic tools and begin to build greater body awareness and connection. 

Module 2: Building your counter-vortex (Week 3 and 4)

When we experience symptoms of dis-ease we often get pulled into what is known as the “trauma vortex”. We experience the symptoms and then the stress of experiencing the symptoms makes us feel more stressed and hence we experience more symptoms. In this module, you’ll start to build your “counter vortex” with somatic resourcing practises. You’ll also learn a little bit more complex theory that builds on module 1. 

Module 3: Working with Syndromal Patterns (Week 5 and 6)

Many people who experience chronic illness may have a “Syndromal Pattern” in their nervous system. A Syndromal Pattern refers to an unstable physiology which has manifested over time due to accumulated stress states that have not been able to settle or discharge – this leads to a build up of the total stress load over time and can make the system highly sensitive to any changes – good or bad. This module is about empowering you to work with your system to create greater stability and more capacity over time!

Module 4: Survival Blueprints (Week 7 and 8)

This module is all about fight, flight, and freeze. How to recognise them in the body and tools to work through them and return to regulation. We’ll also spend some time on boundaries. This module will be very practical in nature with minimal theory. 

Module 5: Needs and Parts (Week 9 and 10)

By now you will have some incredible tools to self-regulate and hopefully a greater capacity to handle more stress in your life. We’ll circle back to some NLP frameworks that will help you get better connected to your needs and different parts. 

Module 6: Integration (Week 11 and 12)

In a true trauma-informed style, there will be plenty of time to unwind and integrate your learnings. Our final module will be the opportunity for self-reflection and curating your resilience toolbox so that you have some powerful habits in place to sustain you in the long term.

Hi, I’m Anna

Online business owner since 2014, cat mum of two, ocean, food and chocolate lover, half mermaid, and CFS survivor!

I have more than 15 years experience in the health industry, a Masters Degree in Personalised Nutrition, and I am a fully certified  and Trauma-Informed Functional Medicine Practitioner with the Institute of Functional Medicine. 

Despite a lifelong interest in health, in 2016 CFS and mold illness turned my life upside down. 

Always the achiever, being unwell was not an option I was prepared to settle for. I committed myself to finding out what I needed to be well. It changed me as a person and as a practitioner, and it changed how I run my business. 

I am now passionate about people find their path to fatigue recovery with less wasted time, money and precious energy!

You can join the self-paced course at any time. 

The group and self study are the same in every way except the self study members cannot attend the live group calls or access the Facebook Group BUT self study members can access the call recordings from the November 2022 Cohort.

This is a self study group program only. Currently I can only offer 1:1 support to my 6 month Fatigue Recovery Clients.

The course will focus on the Nervous System only but we have several mini course available on the website where we cover these topics: https://annamarsh.co.uk/courses/

Yes! The course is appropriate for anyone with a chronic illness, anxiety, digestive issues, depression, insomnia, PoTS, Fibromyalgia, auto-immunity or just a general interest. Examples may at times be tailored towards a fatigue population

Self Study (which includes access to call recordings) – £450 or 5x£90

Anyone can join the program whether you male or female. This is a co-ed program. 

There are no live group calls at this time. You can join the self-paced self study course.

There are no additional costs.

All calls will be recorded and you will have access to them in the membership portal. 

You can ask questions via the members portal. 

There are no refunds once the course has started. All payment plans must be completed whether you complete the course in full or not.

We currently have no live groups running or scheduled. It is my preference to keep group numbers small and intimate (10-15 people). Should numbers exceed 15 then more call times will be offered to distribute the group to maintain intimacy and support.

The primary focus of this program is to learn tools based on Somatic Experiencing to support better nervous system regulation day to day. 

The training is delivered in a way takes the sensitivity of the syndromal patterns of the nervous system into consideration. 

We allow for a lots of space and gentleness and you will not be pressured to heal or use a performative approach to healing. 

We work slowly to begin with so the pace is perfect if you are someone who needs to go gently with your body and if you have a lot of freeze in your system.

There is a small brain retraining component to the course. 

One of the main prompts for creating NR was because I thought there was space for a non-dogmatic approach delivered by someone with training across multiple fields (somatic experiencing, NLP, Coaching, Yin Yoga, Breathwork, Psychoneuroimmunology and Functional Medicine) and a CFS / Mold / Burnout Experience. Someone who can see the intersectionality and guide her participants accordingly.

What also makes the program different is me. This may or may not be a good thing for you but if your nervous system resonates with mine (which you may know from listening to my podcast, reading my blogs and engaging on my instagram) then NR may be a good choice for you.

Healing happens in the connection, in the relational field between people. Sometimes it is not “what” you are learning but who you are learning with that matters.

Traditional marketing practises teach us to market from a place of scarcity and fear i.e. I have this secret information that you don’t have and it will solve all your problems. If you don’t invest in it you will remain stuck in your pain.

The truth is that most people don’t have special secret information and there isn’t a magic bullet that will solve all your problems.

But, there is something special that happens when the right person delivers the right information in a relatively safe container that allows your nervous system to feel safe enough to receive it. You are also not a passive recipient but you make a conscious choice that you’ll do your best to be open to receiving what is offered, given the limitations we all have as part of being a human.

I hope that anyone choosing to work with me will not make that decision from a place of lack or fear. thinking that I have a magic toolbox that will save them. I hope anyone choosing to work with me will make that decision from a place of inner knowing that this feels like the right time, person and opportunity for them to receive what they believe they need.

Chronic illness is complex and healing is multifacted, therefore it would be misleading to guarantee a specific outcome because each person will experience and receive the material differently – we all have different nervous systems and I couldn’t teach nervous system nourishment without acknowledging that up front. My greatest wish for you is that this moves your healing journey forward, may it be the last “healing course” that you need and if not, may it empower you for whatever healing still remains once the program is complete.

You’ll need time for the theory, group calls, self reflection and somatic practises. This is not a theory heavy course because we want to spend less time in the brain and more time in the body. Some modules will be a little more theory heavy than others but I suspect a maximum of 30 minutes per week for theory.

The group calls will be approximately 1 hour per week.

Some of the modules have reflective journaling but not all. I would allow 1 hour for these to give yourself the spaciousness. Each individual will be different.

Somatic work: the intent of the program is to help you curate a toolbox that supports your nervous system. There are lots of tools to try but you will probably learn the ones that work for you and you want to integrate daily/weekly. How much time you need will depend on your nervous system and the tools you are using. I have clients that can settle and achieve a state change in 2 minutes, others need more time.
