1-1 Functional Medicine & Nervous System Support for Complex Fatigue
Intimate Trauma-Informed Care For People With ME/CFS, Fatigue, Burnout, or Other Chronic & Complex Energy Problems.
If you’re living with persistent exhaustion, brain fog, and unpredictable energy, you may already know how complex these conditions can be.
Many people I work with have tried countless supplements, diets, and protocols — yet still feel stuck in cycles of fatigue and overwhelm.
This isn’t a personal failure.
Chronic fatigue conditions often involve multiple overlapping factors including nervous system dysregulation, immune and metabolic stress, and environmental or biochemical contributors.
My role is to help you explore these layers in a structured, supportive way so we can begin making sense of what your body may be experiencing.
As someone who has personally lived through chronic illness myself, I also understand how isolating and frustrating this journey can feel.
You are not alone in this.
Living with chronic fatigue can quietly reshape every part of life.
You may remember a time when you could manage work, family, social life and responsibilities without constantly thinking about your energy - now even simple tasks can feel unpredictable.
Many of the people I work with describe experiences like:
- Feeling like they are only operating at a fraction of their previous capacity
- Doing everything they can to support their health, yet still feeling stuck
- Spending years researching, experimenting with supplements, diets, or protocols
- Moving between practitioners without feeling like the full picture was ever explored
- Being told test results are “normal” despite very real symptoms
- Noticing that supplements or interventions often make them feel worse rather than better
- Feeling caught between pushing through exhaustion and complete shutdown
Over time this can become physically, emotionally and mentally exhausting.
And it’s common to begin questioning your own body — or even yourself.
But these patterns are not unusual in complex fatigue conditions.
Often they reflect systems in the body that are under prolonged stress and struggling to regulate effectively.
Which is why a deeper, more integrated approach is often needed.
A DIFFERENT WAY TO APPROACH Complex Fatigue
Improving energy rarely comes from one single intervention.
More often it happens through many small changes that are introduced carefully and sequenced appropriately over time.
What is often missing is not effort — most people I work with have already tried many things.
What’s often missing is clear case management.
Someone who can step back, look at the full picture, and help prioritise what actually matters.
Someone who understands both the physiology and nervous system patterns that commonly show up in complex fatigue conditions.
And someone who recognises that meaningful change in chronic illness usually requires patience, collaboration, and ongoing support.
Through our work together, many clients begin to experience:
- Greater clarity around what may be contributing to their symptoms
- A structured plan rather than constant trial-and-error
- A more stable relationship with their energy and capacity
- Less overwhelm when making health decisions
- Gradual improvements in focus, resilience, and day-to-day functioning
Progress looks different for everyone.
But when the body is supported in a more integrated and individualised way, it can begin to move toward greater regulation and stability over time.
Meet Anna
Anna Marsh is a Functional Medicine Practitioner and Nutritional Therapist with over 17 years of experience in the health field.
Her work focuses on supporting people living with complex and chronic conditions, including ME/CFS, unexplained fatigue, fibromyalgia, Long Covid, and fatigue commonly associated with autoimmune illness.
Alongside her training in functional medicine and biochemistry, Anna is also a Somatic Experiencing Practitioner, which means she is trained to work with the nervous system patterns that often develop in long-term illness.
This allows her to integrate physiology and nervous system regulation when supporting clients with complex fatigue.
Anna’s work is also informed by personal experience.
Earlier in her life she experienced chronic illness herself, which profoundly shaped how she understands health, recovery, and the lived reality of long-term symptoms.
This experience deepened her appreciation for how complex and individual these conditions can be.
Today, her work brings together clinical training, systems thinking, and lived experience to help people explore their health in a structured, compassionate, and collaborative way.
My goal is to support you in understanding your body more clearly and exploring the factors that may be contributing to your symptoms.
Together we take a thoughtful, individualised approach — looking at both physiology and nervous system patterns — so that changes can be introduced in a way that feels manageable and sustainable.
My role is to walk alongside you, offering guidance, structure, and clinical insight as we work toward improving your health and quality of life over time.
“Three months after starting working together I was able to start swimming and went on a full skiing holiday. I've been able to go on a long haul holiday, travel solo with my children and keep up with all the lovely chaos that a busy family life brings - a year ago this would have been unimaginable."
After not getting much help from my GP, it was so reassuring to know that I wasn’t alone and I had some support. Anna takes a full history and makes recommendations to rule things in and out and you work through it together. Being a nurse I thought I could work it out on my own but the whole process has been lifechanging.
Not only has the quick pace of improvement massively improved my quality of life but some days, I have more energy than I can ever remember having. Anna was not only extremely professional but also made me feel really safe, supported and cared for. Before Anna I had worked with a ‘holistic health & life coach’ who charged a lot more than Anna with not even a fraction of the knowledge and qualifications on Chronic Fatigue. The experience was worlds apart!
Without Anna I wouldn’t have known what to do. I read books on Chronic Fatigue and listened to lots of podcasts and downloaded all sorts of information. But I think that only takes you a certain way forward.
I was constantly exhausted and I never had the space and energy for my kids. I changed my relationship with rest and I learnt to support my nervous system. I tweaked my diet, invested in Functional Testing and added in supplements to support my immune system. I now start most days feeling incredible!
1:1 FUNCTIONAL MEDICINE FOR
Complex Fatigue
This is a personalised, trauma-infomed, programme designed for people living with chronic and complex fatigue conditions who would benefit from structured, ongoing support.
Working together allows us to explore your health in depth — looking at the biological, environmental, and nervous system factors that may be contributing to your symptoms.
Rather than trying to do everything at once, we take a strategic and individualised approach, introducing changes gradually and adjusting the plan as your body responds.
This kind of work is best suited to people who are ready to explore their health with curiosity and patience.
This support is best suited to people who…
- Are living with complex fatigue such as ME/CFS, fibromyalgia, Long Covid, autoimmune-related fatigue, or persistent unexplained exhaustion
- Have been experiencing symptoms for some time and feel ready to explore a more structured and personalised approach
- Have tried various strategies but still feel like the full picture of your health hasn’t yet been explored
- Are looking for support that integrates Functional Medicine, nervous system regulation, and personalised nutrition
- Are open to making gradual lifestyle and health changes over time with guidance and support
- Would value working closely with a practitioner who understands the complexity of chronic illness
This may not be the right fit if you…
- You are currently experiencing severe mental health challenges that require specialist psychiatric support
- You are primarily seeking support for weight loss or aesthetic health goals
- You are currently pregnant or in the early postpartum period or looking to conceive and would benefit from specialist care in that area
- You are looking for a quick fix or a short-term protocol
- You feel too overwhelmed right now to engage with any new health practices or recommendations
- You are looking for someone to “fix” your health without your active involvement in the process
WHAT IS INCLUDED:
- Comprehensive Case Review: A detailed review of your symptoms, health history, lifestyle, supplements, medications, and any recent test results so we can understand the key factors influencing your health.
- Two-Part Initial Health Intake: Two in-depth sessions where we explore your health timeline, discuss potential contributing factors, and prioritise the first steps.
- Personalised Strategy Report: A clear plan outlining the systems we will focus on over the next phase of work (such as digestion, immune function, nervous system regulation, blood sugar, hormones, and more).
- Personalised Supplement Protocol (if appropriate): Recommendations tailored to your needs and reviewed alongside any medications to avoid interactions. Protocols are adjusted over time as we monitor your response.
- Six Follow-Up Consultations: Six 60-minute sessions where we review progress, interpret results, and refine your plan
- Functional Testing Guidance: Where useful, functional testing may be recommended to better understand your physiology. Anna organises and interprets results so they make sense in the context of your overall health.
- Optional Somatic Support: Additional Somatic Experiencing sessions can be integrated into your care plan if deeper nervous system work would be beneficial.
WHAT CAN YOU EXPECT OVER OUR
6 months together
Your support is fully personalised and evolves as we learn more about your health.
We begin by building a clear understanding of your history and current symptoms, and then gradually introduce changes based on your body’s responses over time.
Rather than following a rigid protocol, the process is adaptive and collaborative, allowing us to refine your plan as new information emerges.
Phase 1
Information Gathering
(Weeks 1-2)
We begin with a comprehensive health intake and two onboarding consultations where we explore your history, symptoms, and goals. From this we develop an initial strategy and decide whether any functional testing would be helpful.
Phase 2
Foundations
(Weeks 2-8)
In the early phase we focus on stabilising key foundations such as energy management, sleep, nutrition, nervous system regulation, and daily rhythms. These changes help create the conditions for deeper work later on.
Phase 3
Deeper Invetigation & Fine Tuning (Weeks 8-20+)
As we gather more information — including any test results — we refine your plan and introduce more targeted nutritional, lifestyle, or supplement strategies based on your individual needs.
Phase 4
Integration and Long Term Strategy (Weeks 20-24+)
In the final phase we focus on consolidating progress and helping you build sustainable habits so you feel more confident managing your health moving forward.
FREQUENTLY ASKED questions
The structure of the programme includes two initial intake sessions followed by six follow-up consultations across the six months.
Outside of sessions, most clients spend a small amount of time each week implementing the recommendations we discuss. Changes are introduced gradually and at a pace that feels manageable for your current level of capacity.
Because this is a personalised process, the exact time investment varies from person to person. My role is to help you prioritise the most supportive steps so you can focus your energy where it is likely to be most helpful.
No. While some clients come to me with diagnoses such as ME/CFS, fibromyalgia, Long Covid, or autoimmune conditions, many others are experiencing persistent fatigue and related symptoms without a clear diagnosis.
It’s very common for people with complex fatigue to spend years searching for answers before they receive clear explanations for their symptoms.
Our work focuses on understanding your individual health picture — including your history, symptoms, lifestyle, and any testing that may already have been done.
Where appropriate, I may suggest further functional testing or encourage you to continue working with your GP or specialist alongside our work together.
The goal is to build a clearer picture of what may be influencing your health so we can explore supportive strategies in a structured and personalised way.
The investment for the six-month programme starts at £3750 + VAT.
A monthly payment option of £625 + VAT for six months is also available.
VAT is a standard UK business tax of 20% which is applied to all services.
If you would like to explore whether this support may be appropriate for your situation, the next step is to complete a short application.
Applications help ensure that this level of support is appropriate for your needs.
You can also view the enrolment guide here.
Functional testing is not included in the programme price and is only recommended when it is likely to provide useful insight into your case.
If testing is appropriate, Anna can organise the tests, interpret the results, and guide you through what they mean in the context of your overall health.
Where possible, tests are offered at practitioner trade rates.
Commonly used tests include:
- NutrEval (Genova Diagnostics) – approx. £515 + postage and blood draw fees
- Organic Acids Test – approx. £205 + postage
- DUTCH Complete Hormone Test with CAR (Precision Analytical) – approx. £255–£367 + postage
- GI Effects Comprehensive Stool Profile (Genova Diagnostics) – approx. £310 + postage
- MycoTox Panel (Mosaic Diagnostics) – approx. £320 + postage
- Cyrex Autoimmune Arrays – from approx. $267 + blood draw and postage
Not every client requires testing, and most people complete between one and three tests depending on their case.
In some situations, you may also be referred to your GP for standard blood work or choose to use a private laboratory service such as Medichecks.
Somatic Experiencing® (SE) is a body-based therapeutic approach designed to support the nervous system in recovering from stress, overwhelm, and trauma.
Developed by Dr. Peter Levine, SE is based on the understanding that difficult experiences can sometimes leave the nervous system stuck in patterns of fight, flight, or freeze. These patterns may contribute to symptoms such as chronic stress, fatigue, hypervigilance, or shutdown.
Rather than focusing on talking through past experiences, Somatic Experiencing works by gently bringing awareness to physical sensations in the body. This can help the nervous system gradually release stored stress and move toward greater regulation and stability.
Within this programme, Somatic Experiencing sessions can be added if you feel you would benefit from additional support with nervous system regulation alongside the Functional Medicine work.
This programme is designed as a six-month process, and clients are expected to commit to the full programme and payment schedule.
If unexpected circumstances arise that make it difficult to continue, please contact Anna to discuss your situation. Requests to end the programme early are reviewed on a case-by-case basis.
The aim is always to find a fair solution where possible.
If termination is agreed, you may be eligible for a refund for services that have not yet been delivered.
Please note that missed appointments or sessions cancelled with less than 24 hours’ notice are not refundable. In some cases, there may also be a balance to pay if services have been received ahead of the agreed payment schedule.
No practitioner can ethically guarantee a specific outcome, particularly when working with complex chronic conditions.
Chronic illness is highly individual, and each person’s health history, physiology, and life circumstances are different.
Many people find that having structured guidance and support helps them make sense of their health in a clearer and more manageable way.
What I can offer is a thoughtful, structured approach to exploring the factors that may be contributing to your symptoms. Together we introduce supportive strategies and adjust the plan over time based on how your body responds.
Because this process is personalised and evolves as we learn more about your system, progress can look different for each person.
If you’re unsure whether this support is the right fit for you, the best first step is to complete the application form.
This helps Anna understand your situation and determine whether working together would be appropriate.
If it appears to be a good fit, you’ll have the opportunity to ask any further questions before moving forward.

STILL wonderingWHETHER THIS IS THE RIGHT STEP FOR YOU?
That’s completely understandable.
Many people who arrive here have already spent years searching for answers, trying different approaches, and doing everything they can to support their health.
Living with persistent fatigue can affect so many areas of life — your work, relationships, sense of identity, and the simple things that once felt easy.
If you recognise yourself in these experiences, you’re not alone.
This work is not about quick fixes or dramatic promises.
Instead, it’s about taking a thoughtful and structured approach to understanding what may be contributing to your symptoms, and gradually supporting your system in a way that respects the complexity of chronic illness.
For some people, having experienced guidance and consistent support makes the process feel clearer and less overwhelming.
If you feel ready to explore your health in this way, you are warmly invited to apply.
Applications help ensure that this level of support is appropriate for your situation.
